Because oh, why the hell not?

Comment here with prompt(s), character(s) for it/them, and you get a ficlet.

Pretty much anyone I've ever played is fair game, including: PSLs, Next Gen, characters I talked about but never got around to, inactive ones, whatever. I'm easy like cheese from a spray can.

Davin, flame in the twilight; "My Werewolf"
[info]amor_remanet
2009-09-02 03:14 am UTC (link)
Groaning and rubbing his eyes, Davin leans his hospital bed back and flinches like a fussy kitten. Doctor Matt doesn't mean to be so loud, he knows that, but the man's footfalls are like rock-slides and his cologne reeks in ways that Davin knows are new.

"The nurses tell me you're not taking this news well, Davin," Doctor Matt says cautiously. The tell-tale click of the voice recorder is louder than Davin remembers.

He should have noticed -- or so he thinks, in retrospect -- that the guy who approached him on the Diag was odd. It might have occurred to him that the stranger's smile was too kindly, or that he possessed a conspicuous amount of body hair. He could have made a connection between the oddly full moon and the distinct smell of wet dog that lingered around this stranger, even though he was dry -- but none of it was on his mind at all.

"All I wanted was to have a nice night at home. With Rafe." Davin huffs. "Instead I came to in a hospital, two days later, being told all about how I got turned into a werewolf. I'm just abso-fucking-lutely ecstatic."

The rest of the conversation could go better. Doctor Moriarty mentions that irritability and frustration are common symptoms for the first four to six weeks. He says that the week before the full moon will be difficult, and that for the full moon proper, Davin will have to drive all the way up to Flint, to let some 'trained professionals' watch out for and inoculate him.

"Or you could do what your creator did," he suggests. "But I rather doubt that you'd enjoy having that mark on a criminal record."

At least later, when Rafe visits, he does a better job of fixing things. He curls up and shares the hospital bed with Davin, and Davin notices things he hasn't before. The scent of Rafe's shampoo is stronger, so much that Davin can nearly taste the remnants of flavor when he kisses the back of Rafe's neck.

"See? It can't be all bad." Rafe points out. "You'd be freezing cold if you were a vampire now. And sex probably wouldn't be nearly as fun as it's going to be."

"Don't set your standards for it too high yet," Davin reminds him gently. "I'm still injured."

"And healing faster than a normal person would." Rafe shakes his head and sends his beautiful smell everywhere.

Things look up, but they don't stay that way. More people visit, and they make things somewhat fun. Sid and Dart get Davin to laugh, even if Anaïs sees fit to ask about Davin's new time of the month. Luke and Raleigh worry, and Eggo fusses, which can't be helped, Davin guesses. Then the basket from Mark comes -- cookies, which is generous of him, and condoms that are apparently made just to facilitate sex between werewolves and their human mates.

Then the card falls out on Davin's lap and in big letters tells him, "Hey, man, it could be worse. At least you don't fucking sparkle."

Davin, lovers; "Of the Pre-Rafelites"
[info]amor_remanet
2009-09-02 05:54 pm UTC (link)
Davin wakes up in an unfamiliar bed, but he remembers how he got there. "Rebounding" -- one of the uglier words he can think of, one he hoped would never apply to him, but how can some other word describe this process? At least there's warmth within these sheets, not like Mark's. At least this guy talked nicely at the bar last night; at least he slowed down when Davin asked, regardless of how much his breath reeked of scotch.

Swallowing thickly, Davin leaves the bed behind. His guy -- he doesn't even remember Scotch Guy's name; what does that say about him? -- doesn't say a word. He doesn't rouse at all. Pulling his jeans out of their ball on the floor, Davin gathers all his clothes together. He shoves them on -- jeans freezing, shirt on inside out, sandals nearly on the wrong feet. He pads downstairs and leaves to no big event. Nothing happens on the whole walk home.

It's been three weeks he's lived on Lex's couch, and it's been torture trying to keep breathing. But at least he isn't broken. He can still have sex. He's still as close to normal as he can be. Mark didn't take everything from him, and there's hope out west, in Michigan.

I'll take all the Percy I can get regardless of age. OBVIOUSLY you have the best Percy pb ever. Fuck everyone else.

Percy/Penelope, 'stop distracting me'; "A Right Little Shakespeare"
[info]amor_remanet
2009-09-03 12:50 am UTC (link)
During his second year, Percy notices something about one of the Ravenclaws in his Charms class. Her name is Penelope Clearwater, and she's beautiful. More beautiful than any of the other girls, because she isn't shallow like they are, or obsessed with the same inane drivel over which Hobgoblin they like better or which Quidditch player has the cutest bum. Other boys notice her as well -- they have to, or so goes Percy's logic. She just has this hair, and those eyes, and that smile... even though he barely knows her, Percy thinks that he could love that smile.

Of course, though, she doesn't notice him, or if she does, she probably doesn't like him. Girls like boys like Bill and Charlie -- cool boys, popular boys, boys who don't always raise their hands in class or know all the answers. Boys who aren't annoying. But he wants her to notice him.

So he tries to write a sonnet, during that summer before third year. He reads Shakespeare and Spenser, he learns the form enough to try and make something. None of his attempts are any good. All he gets by the time he stops for the day are headaches and little balls of parchment all over the floor of his and Charlie's room. Further attempts go no better; practice should make him better, but it never does.

Fourth year brings nothing better. Sometimes, in the library, Percy can catch just enough of a glimpse around the stacks. Rather than stop talking in his classes -- which would make sense, seeing as it might make him less annoying than he apparently is -- he finds himself talking too much, answering fully, completely, and well beyond what his professors ask. He's certain that everyone hates him now, if they didn't before -- except for Oliver, his only friend, and Charlie, who has to put up with Percy or Mum would be upset.

Pushing his glasses up, Percy cranes his neck to try and see Penelope, and all he sees is the back of her head. Should he feel bad about doing this? It isn't as though he's stalking her; there aren't that many places in the school to go, so it's likely for them to end up within fifty feet of each other in the library. And he doesn't go out of his way to find her; it just happened. Should he feel worse about their situation, or should his only concern be that she'll never notice him?

"Perce!" Out of nowhere, Oliver slaps him on the back and takes the seat beside him. "Come on, up you get. Dinner's starting soon, mate."

"...You smell like Quidditch practice," Percy informs him, sniffing a little.

"Come on, already, I'm sure your essay's three times what Snape asked for -- let's go get dinner."

"Oliver, stop distracting me!"

"Come on, you aren't even writing anymore!"

"Oliver, it's the only way to make her like me!"

Because he understands, Oliver sits down and they work together into the night. Even with Oliver's help, Percy makes no progress on writing this poem for her. When they finally make it to dinner, he feels too much of a headache to do anything but sulk.

Come fifth year, Percy learns that he doesn't need sonnets to attract the eyes of Penelope Clearwater. Red hair and glasses apparently do the trick just right.
